I recently had the pleasure of styling a baby shower/ house warming party for a very lovely family. They started off the year welcoming a new baby boy into the world and into their new home. A year of new beginnings indeed!
The theme was elephant (a favorite in the family), and the colors were also family favorites — red and gray.
This party was so much fun to style! My inspiration was the cake topper which is a teething toy by Infantino (makers of Sophie the Giraffe). Cutie of an elephant and a perfect topper for the Vanilla Rum cake I made!
Other desserts at the table were yummy Middle Eastern sweets (provided by a family friend), mini strawberry parfaits (a’la me!), store-bought blueberry muffins and cupcakes decorated with elephant toppers that I created with the thanks of easy to use punches, all arranged on top of a plaid blanket showcasing the party’s theme colors. And to bring it all together, the dessert table’s back drop was an amazing quilt that was handmade by one of the family’s friends.
In the entry (as pictured above), was the greeting table that consisted of a white framed sign with the baby’s name and birth date and a two-tier diaper cake (yup! I made those too!), along with a story book that all guests signed as a gift to the baby.
As for main courses and sides, the menu was brunch inspired and prepared by the guest-of-honor’s mom. Delicious baked strata and baked french toast was accompanied by home fries and skewered maple bacon. Kids also had a choice of cereal, as well as their own red bowls, plates and utensils (in red polka dot bags) fashionably tied with silver gray bows and topped with cute elephant stickers.
Last but not least — there’s the dining table. Stylishly layered with gray and white table cloths and topped with a vintage table cloth (provided by the guest-of-honor’s mom) that draped at the center of the long table. The centerpieces were simple but elegant, with red and gray balloons in the middle and tall vases housing red tulips on either side of the table. The adults dined on the family’s fine china embellished with white polka dots on red napkins wrapped in the same silver gray ribbon and elephant foam stickers.
All items on the menu were labeled with red and gray elephant cards, and water bottles were wrapped in labels of the same design with baby’s name.
Guests were given thank-you favors tied with sweet little red tags that showed — you guessed it! — a little gray elephant. 🙂
All in all a beautiful party for a beautiful family!
Enjoy and be inspired!
